What The Hell??

Did the Constitution get revised while I wasn't looking? How about the Bill of Rights? What in the name of hell has happened? Our "fearless leader" has done it again -- treating Capitol Hill like it's an extension of his own private frat house, getting his buddies out of trouble.

Allow me to be perfectly blunt. Bill Clinton got a blow job and lied to his wife about it. They impeached him and tried to run him out of the White House on a rail.

George "Dubya" Bush goes sends American citizens to fight for this country, on the pretense of spreading democracy. Of course, he had to have a "story B" when it turned out his initial intelligence was bogus and there were no weapons of mass destruction, no matter how many palaces they tossed. So democracy it is. In Iraq. Because obviously, Saddam Houssein was behind the destruction of the World Trade Center. Not Oussama bin Ladin -- in Afghanistan. Where all the Al Qaida communications came from. It's all about Iraq. Because they shot at his Daddy, if anyone remembers the rhetoric from when we first jumped into this fracas.

Not that Karl Rove and Dick Cheney don't have a hand in this. Never let it be said that those two have stayed at a moral arms length from any of this.

That's because there's a fortune to be made here. In oil, manufacturing, and construction. We blow up Iraq, we have to rebuild it. It's only right. It's also only right that our man Cheney's company gets the only bid on said re-construction. I mean -- that's how frat houses operate. You always help your buddies out, no matter what kind of scheme they come up with. All for one and one for all.

And every time I think that my disbelief has been sucked dry -- no more reserves, you can't possibly surprise me any longer, boys -- they come up with something else. But time and again, I still find myself shocked.

This time his name is "Scooter." Who the fuck past the age of six goes by the name of "Scooter" anyhow? Gimme a break. People's lives have been compromised because of what he did. Lives have been lost. Careers thrashed. And who knows if there will be anyone brave enough to step up and fill the gaps he's created with his loose, liver lips? Would you enter into a career in intelligence knowing that you enter into an environment where some blow hard could wag his tongue, put your life in danger, and get away with it? I think I'd have serious doubts. This, in a time when intelligence ought to be a priority. And by that I mean reliable intelligence. Intelligence that merits its name.

Just when it looked like justice might -- just might -- prevail in this country for the first time since the good ol' boys took office, "Scooter" scoots away with community service. What's he gonna do? Give us a public service announcement about how gossip sucks? Don't do that kids. It's not nice.

Bush has the nerve, on top of all this, to talk to the press about how Scooter's family has suffered because of these allegations -- whoops, now it's a conviction, but who's counting. How about the suffering he put Plame at risk for? How about the fact that she was outed for nothing more than her husband's criticism of the war? Or was she getting a little close to finding the intelligence that would indicate the weapons of mass destruction weren't there in the first place? Either way, if it looks like a pile of shit, and smells like a pile of shit, it is a pile of shit. And this situation, folks, is one big pile of shit.

I thought that the point of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were that they applied to everyone, regardless of might or money or anything else. That was what was supposed to be great about those documents, and this country.

I know there are some history buffs out there who are going to call me out on the fact that originally the constitution didn't recognize anyone outside of land owners as constituents. Times change, and documents are amended, people see the errors of those who went before and hopefully learn from them.

I think the trouble here-in lies in the fact that our "Dubya" doesn't check facts. Meaning he's not much of a reader. And one wonders if he has read these documents. Or did he just crib the answers for that test? I mean, how is a guy expected to study when there's some quality time to be spent with a beer bong?

And finally, when do the people in this country, who are so proud to live with the freedoms granted by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, get up and exercise those rights? When are we going to look at the actions of our government, which are so blatantly wrong in every sense of the word, and start asking questions? When will we demand the answers to those questions?

There are only eighteen months until the election, and I hope that the folks who read this will remember at least the debacle of "Scooter" by then, and that the memory will prevent us from putting another "Dubya" in power.
